Our Story
"Born from one person's experience of feeling truly safe, The Sanctuary was created so that everyone can have a place to call their own Sanctuary."
The Sanctuary began long before the therapy room itself.
During founder Laura Miller's own personal therapy journey, she often found herself referring to her therapist's room as "my sanctuary." It was a place where she felt safe, accepted and able to simply be herself. Long before The Sanctuary existed, the name already had a home in her heart.
In 2023, that vision became a reality when Laura transformed her conservatory into a warm, welcoming therapy space. For two years, clients found comfort, healing and hope there, and the foundations of The Sanctuary were quietly laid.
As the practice grew, so did the dream. In June 2025, The Sanctuary found its permanent home at the Harvey Adams Centre in Brandon, Suffolk. The move allowed the vision to flourish, creating a dedicated space where even more people could access compassionate support.
Today, The Sanctuary is home not only to Laura, but also to a bereavement facilitator and four independent therapists, each bringing their own expertise while sharing the same commitment to providing a safe, supportive and healing environment.
The Sanctuary has always been more than a therapy room. It is a place where people can pause, breathe, feel heard and begin to heal.
